Hopefully you’ve taken all measures to ensure your roof is ready for this winter weather! Did it need to be reinforced, re-shingled, new flashing? Have you cleaned out your gutters?
Whatever steps you’ve taken were well worth it now that the snow has fallen and will melt exposing leaks. Not to mention weak areas where wildlife and pests may enter your home. The good news is raccoons and squirrels aren’t having babies this time of year so if they did manage to enter through your roof or eaves they won’t be multiplying in there. Mice and rats however breed year round so you will want to take care of these pests!
With the cold winter weather comes many extra things for us to think about. Above all, be ready to check on family and neighbors who are especially at risk from cold weather hazards: young children, older adults, and the chronically ill. If you have pets, bring them inside. If you cannot bring them inside, provide adequate, warm shelter and unfrozen water to drink.
